Grounded Innovation: Reflections on GEO Business & Digital Construction Week 2025

GEO Business and Construction Week

By Andrew Loveless, CRO, GIS Cloud

It’s been an energising week for the geospatial and construction tech community. With parallel at GEO Business and Digital Construction Week, one thing became crystal clear: location intelligence is now a core pillar of how we build, maintain, and manage our world. It was great to see a robot sitting in on Ed Parsons presentation.

At GIS Cloud, we’ve always believed that empowering people on the ground, those surveying, inspecting, building, and maintaining infrastructure is the fastest route to delivering smarter, faster, and more resilient public services. These two shows validated that belief, loudly. It would have been interesting to mix up both DCW and GEO as one produces the input for the other! Some sort of conference spin dryer may be needed.

Stepping back a little and looking at the overall UK geospatial market grew to 5.2bn in 2024 and continues to climb, driven by demand for:

This is driven by the ever-increasing demands of clients, partners and public sector leaders such as the powerful National Underground Asset Register (NUAR) presentation by Richard Duffield and Neil Brammell.

There were some common themes and strong market resonance from our conversations

“User adoption is our challenge; they revert to using their own phones”

This is the spark my workforce need”

“GIS Cloud integrated easily with our existing systems—no rebuild, just results.” Programme Director Civil Engineering Firm

We went from pilot to full rollout fast—no coding, no delays.” Civil Engineering Lead

We’re not just talking about it. GIS Cloud is actively working with over 300 organisations in 60+ countries, including WSP, Transgrid, AECOMM, PipeView,  and over 20 public sector bodies local worldwide.

Digital transformation in civils, utilities, and infrastructure is no longer aspirational. It’s here. And as one attendee put it, “We’re exploring tools like GIS Cloud because we know we need solutions our teams will actually use on site, support offline and real time.”

That’s where we come in. Our mission is to keep it practical, grounded, and immediate.

We left both GEO and DCW with:

If you’re thinking about how to get more from your mobile workforce, improve asset lifecycle oversight, or win more contracts with better data delivery, we’d love to talk.

“GIS Cloud helps civil and utility teams work smarter in the field — with cloud-first tools designed for people, not just scientists.”

If you read this far, thank you and lets start a pilot, request a demo or learn more about your challenges.
